Late November Fallow Buck, Strange Taste

I was out on a farm on Saturday with instruction to "shoot everything" and shot a buck. Had a fleeting chance at two fallow does but the proximity of some cows with rather large horns prevented that so the buck was all I could clear for the farmer. My colegue on the day pointed out it would tase awfull?

Now I have never shot bucks in November december before as I always prefer smaller doe's if I have the opeotunity, so whilst id heard of this before I have had no first hand experiance. So I was wondering what I could expect?

Note the buck did not have the rutt stink on it.

It will be fine at this time of year. Bucks shot in the rut smell especially when cooking but still taste fine

Have a good sniff inside, if it is a little smelly hang it for three weeks and it will be fine. You can hang the smell out of fallow but I should think it will be ok.
