Thing's you used to have at Christmas time...

With everything seemingly at the touch of a button these days I can remember one particular treat my Dad use to buy for us at Christmas was 2 crates of mixers for all the family from Britvic in Chelmsford.

My Nan used to like the ginger ale, Turkish delight and the most disgusting thing on the planet
    crystalized ginger...!

My sister and I used to commandeer the pineapple mixers until they were all gone lol...

Any particular treats from your past spring to mind?

The dates that came in a box with 2 layers were very nice, gives me a good idea to look around when shopping next week....

I'm 47 and I still get a box of chocolate covered Brazils from my mum every year.
    I wish they would disappear.
“Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”........Dalai Lama

Christmas is the time I miss my father.

A "larger than life" character, who always entered into the spirit of seasonal hospitality. Our house was always open to everyone at this time of year, with my father's enthusiasm and good humour infecting us all.

All the other stuff - dates in boxes, tangerines in pillow cases, sending letters up the chimney to santa, etc etc - we can still enjoy, but it's not the same without dad.
