    Thermal and NV

    I see plenty threads re thermal and NV for AIDS to Deer Management. I know thermal is 24 hours. What is the view, law on using NV after your hour after sunset and before reasonable light in the morning. As numbers using it rise it must be tempting to gain that extra hour if you and deer are there, shortly after you should have left or are in the highseats waiting daylight.

    spotting deer at any time with thermal or nv is not an issue, shooting deer with thermal scopes or any form of image intensifier (NV) would not be legal at any time. Shooting deer outside of the legal 'day' without authority to do so is breaking the law as would be using thermal or NV to shoot deer irrespective of the time of day, they are specifically referenced in the deer acts. In a nutshell, with thermal you will see many deer you can't legally shoot... at that time

    The use of light-intensifying, heat sensitive or other special sighting devices is prohibited under Section 5 of the Deer (Firearms etc) (Scotland) Order 1985.

    By three methods we may learn wisdom:
    First, by reflection, which is noblest;
    Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
    and third by experience, which is the bitterest
