    Reloading .22 hornet

Just starting reloading for my .22 Hornet.

Some say neck resize only rather than FL,I have always FL my other calibres.

What do you guys do? This is for field shooting not range shooting.

    Thanks

    Martin

the neck only comes from the tendency of the brass to split
if you can get away with neck only do that
    if not FL

I only reloaded for hornet for a short time and only had a lee loader so i only neck sized
    seemed to work

What rifle? Most of the time I run a Lee Collet Die and neck size only. I FL resize almost every thing else I shoot but in the CZ bolt gun the neck sized Hornet chamber easily.~Muir

Assuming the only way to tell is trial and error, would chambering the empty shells before loading be an accurate indicator or would it need to be loaded rounds?

neck size a couple and see how the bolt closes on them
if they are once of twice fired in your rifle I doubt you will have an issue

just check trim length as well

Thats what I was hoping as they are such a small round in comparison to my usual .308 and .243.

I have only ever neck sized my hornet cases, some are over 20x loaded and still no problems.

Good. No problems with neck sizing. I was concerned that it might be a single shot break-open in which case FL resizing might be necessary. We have a pair of CZ 527's that only get neck sized brass.~Muir
