    Jim,

There have been a number of 6.5 x 55 threads on here over last few months. I'm getting good results with 43.5/44 grains of N160 with 140gr Amax. 140gr SST "should" be similar

Again.....follow the old "start low and work up" adage in your own rifle!

    Good Luck!

    Hi
I'm using 47gn N160 in Norma brass with Fiocchi primers and 140gn SST's. This gave a 98% fill with the max COL of 3.150". That is in my rifle of course. This load was worked up from 43 to 48gn. The 47 gn load achieved sub 0.75" three shot groupings at 100m which is good enough for me.
    Hope this helps.

I reload for the swede and you'll find with some manuals that the loads for the swedish are based on old 96 mausers and in america they are very conservative with the loads for this round as most people shoot them in the old rifles which cant handle the higher pressures. I think its to cover themselves incase anyone blows their head off and then they cant sue them.

I dont have my data in front of me but a couple of my loads are over the book max but with no pressure signs in my R93. As has been said just work up in your own rifle

thanks for the data , I worked up to 46.7grains N160 all loads shot very well 3/4 or less at 100M , the 46.7 load was very good producing 2730 Ave velocity and shooting half inch or better for a 4 shot group thanks again Click image for larger version.
