    Once again excellent pics Basil. Nearly all the chaffinches round here have "bumble foot" even saw a bullfinch with it recently. Poor little sod couldn't perch on the feeder. They say it doesn't hurt but it certainly incapacitates them.

    They are lovely photos, well done.

    I do like chaffinches - almost as cheeky as robins!

    This little chap wouldn't stop climbing the iron pole to see what the lens was all about!

    They certainly have some character Dom.
    I`ve been trying to photograph one hovering before a feeder ... still trying!

    Ufff! Tell me about it

    We had a hornet's nest in the garage last year where they were exiting and entering through a knot hole. I must have taken a couple of hundred photos of them as they hovered just outside before going in, and I still didn't really end up with one that I was totally happy with.

    The photos I've taken of birds hovering over the coconut shell before landing haven't worked terribly well either.
