Changes to the ways police operate

Through the grapevine i have heard the following, any ideas which is true or which has come from chinese whispers:
    • Certs being extended to 10 years on renewal?
    • Ability to part ex and purchase a new rifle on the same day? Take 22lr into shop to part ex, walk out same day with 22lr.
    • Calibers being grouped? Rimfire, 22CF, and so on?

All sound great but personally I don't believe anything that makes this much common sense will ever happen.

All of this helps the police, helps the gun shops and helps the shooter. It makes sense but theirs too much legislation and crap in the way...

I thought this (last two points anyway) is being, or is about to be, trialled in NI?

In terms of public safety, it has no real effect, it would help shooters so therefore its unlikely to happen - unless the police are significant beneficiaries of the changes - might be a possibility therefore.
I haven't heard a dicky bird I'll just wait for BASC to claim a major victory for common sense and their 'lobbying behind the scenes'.
Sorry to be cynical on such a worthwhile thread.
