    Fallow Doe RIP

    Good morning all

Landowner said a local friend had spotted this Fallow Doe crossing the road at night and he thought someone had shot it in its hind quarter. Well, I went down last night to try and locate her and within minutes I saw her in the NV and she was really struggling to move anywhere. I immediately closed the gap to her, got down on the bipod and pinned her through the shoulder where she fell to the shot after 5 yards. Turns out half her leg was missing and she was also pro lapsing to top it off. A resilient creature though, just goes to show they will adapt, I just didn't want her stuck in the road causing an RTA which is why I ended her suffering. Injury was probably caused by the top strand of a fence?

I'm sure there will be the haters out there, who will no doubt criticise this post, but watching a deer move around like that isnít nice to see let alone the infection she was probably experiencing with the prolapse! My conscious is 100% clear on this one.

Why on earth would anyone criticise what you did?

Well done for ending its suffering ASAP

Nasty. Never mind causing an RTA. She needed culling if she was thousands of miles from any road. There is no doubt what so ever that you made the right call! None of us like seeing that. She must have been in agony?

Suffering in silence, something many animals do, good quick response.
