    Threading a rifle

    Morning , could anyone recommend the cheapest and best place to get a rifle threaded in the Exeter /south west please ?

    Cheapest and best rarely go hand in hand. That been said, neither does high cost guarantee good work.

    I'm not sure about places in your area but focus on reviews not cost. The thread and crown is a major factor in accuracy so cost should be very much in second place.

    Personally, I'd rather send my rifle to someone up country who is known for good work and a speedy turn around and pay the extra in postage/labour.

    Devon custom rifles can't be that far from you, get it done once properly, will save you money in the long run

    Helston gunsmiths always used to do a decent job for a fair price, although its been 15 years since I last used them

    I would recommend sending to James at Jager SA (on here) - his fair price should equally outweigh any RFD costs or faff - if you get in touch with him I am sure he can advise. He cut down my HMR and re-threaded and did a good job.
