Five kilos for sixty quid? This is the local free glossy newspaper/journal that gets shoved through my door each fortnight.

What!!?? Seems expensive to me? Even in Leicestershire the home of famous Leicester City.

Or have I lost something in translation?

Depends what cuts you get for your money but at about 5.50 a pound it doesn't seem overly expensive to me.

I'm sure I read somewhere recently that some game dealers were charging up to 30 per kilo for venison, so depending on what cuts of venison they are then 60 for 5 kilo doesn't sound all that expensive. Not that I worry, I give most of the venison I get (When I do get any) is given free of charge to the pensioners where I live!

If it's boneless, say you get 2.20 a kilo skin on, for a roe, take off the skin , bone out, you have a expensive bit of meat.

No!! That's 110 per Kilo...so 50 per 1lb! If my maths is correct? You couldn't make it up!

So...who can find the MOST expensive raw meat venison for sale on the "net" or elsewhere?

Given venison is less available than beef and therefore exclusive surely if should be more expensive?

peice of fillet at 35 / kg is not unusual

Their catalogue is pure food porn & I defy anyone not to be hungry after leafing thru it , my mother n law has there Indian ready meals , just for when been out & no one can be bothered cooking , it's expensive but good gear , but no way in hell I pay there prices for venison!! It's frightening

Personally I think that this is great news. A local government department openly selling the meat from a deer herd. I know some of the rangers and have been told that they have no complaints and can sell more than they have available. Got to be better than sending it off to highland game, with the additional benefit of local folks getting used to seeing is as an common sense outcome to the management of the herd.
