    Bloody Harkila wellies

My wife bought me some Harkila wellies, not this xmas gone but the one before that.
Therefore, they are just over one year old.
I didn't really wear them for the first 6-7 months and now they leak.
I say leak but in reality they have been punctured.
    The culprit, Blackthorn.
However my previous Le Chameau had the same use and never got punctured. My issue with these boots is this.
WHY have they put a sole in the boot that has large open air chambers that go directly in to the boot.
WHY have they used a sole that does not have a welt deep enough to cope with Blackthorn. Do they expect us to just walk around muddy fields and not woodland/field margins?
Now every time I walk air is squeezed out of the holes and permanently makes it sound like I have water in my boot. If I stand in water my feet will get wet.

So although I think they are nice boots please think twice before buying any if you do anything other than go for lovely weekend walks down lovely tend forestry rides.
    Rant over.

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”........Dalai Lama

Good advice guys. I'll cross these off my list. Anyone tried Arxus? I posted a thread here asking about people's opinions of them. I saw them at the shooting show last weekend, and they looked and felt v good.

I hear that harkila clothing is great (it should be for the price) but their boots are awful. I returned two pairs of mountain hunt boots that leaked and everyone I know who bought their wellies wrecked them within months. Avoid!

Le Chameau boots rank as the worst pair of boots I've ever had . . . leakages, broken eyelets, stitching coming away.
Utter garbage. . . Harkila appears to be heading the same way, I've spoken to umpteen people complaining about some of their seriously overpriced gear.

As I slowly replace my outdoor clothing I'm moving away from shooting / hunting kit and buying more specialist walking hiking gear. I'm finding its generally cheaper and actually works. . I recently bought a pair of Hagolofs Rugged 11 trousers, I've used them for stalking, shooting, hiking, and generally around the house and they have been absolutely exemplary . . Equally so with a RAB jacket.

The mainstream shooting clothing providers have us by the balls with their overpriced non fit for purpose rubbish, time to look towards other manufacturers me thinks and vote with our wallets.

I bought a pair of Harkila lightweight stalking boots a few years back. They were punctured after only a few sessions and so my feet often got soaked, because water seeped through the gortex lining. The soles were very thin, which was great when wanting to be stealthy, but the grip was extremely poor so I often found myself sliding on wet mud. Will not buy that brand's boots again but will stick to something like Meindl or Lowe.
