Thread: Field of view.

    Field of view.

I'm up high seat waiting for some Fallow and fiddling with my optics like you do.

The question I have is what determines field of view ? My Binos at 8.5 X 50 have the same field of view as my scope when the magnification on scope is reduced to X 5. When set at 8.5 it is much narrower FOV than the Binos.

    Any explanations gratefully received .

You're looking through 2 tubes next to each other.,which may almost double the field of view. Try looking down just one of the tubes, what's the field of view then. I don't know, but may answer your question.

Alas Woodlander I tried that and the FOV is the same. I did wonder if it's related to tube size though ? As the binds have bigger tubes than the scope.

I see. Possibly the length of tube makes a difference. Just guessing now
