You are only allowed to sell to a registered venison dealer, to sell to the public you must be a registered venison dealer

Have a look at the link below...

Rules and regs vary subtly between Scotland and England (& Wales). Its not so much the DSC1 that is mandatory, but the large game meat hygiene qualification. This can be done as a stand alone qual.

Without either LGMH or DSC1, in England and Wales you could sell to a licensed game dealer but should supply the head and pluck for inspection by a suitably qualified individual.

Have a look at this link. Its pretty straight forward stuff..

You can't put meat into the food chain without having your large animal meat handling certificate.. you get this as part of trained hunter status which is part and parcel of DSC1.. there are procedures to follow and the beast must be tagged with your reg no and any relevant info... You don't have to have the handling cert if it is for your own consumption

I'm afraid that all of the above replies are WRONG!
To sell to a game dealer in England where you are based, you need to have a large game handling qualification AND be registered as a food business!
DSC 1 course will give you the handling certificate.
You can sell direct to the final consumer, or retailer supplying the final consumer 'in fur' without either of the above, but you must still comply with food standards regulations.
Having deer on your ticket is irrelevant.

MS - you are correct if talking about out of skin/feather game.. However, you don't need to be registered as a food business for in fur carcasses to be sold to a game dealer. The OP didn't stipulate this..

It is the game dealers who should turn people away, however with the mark up on venison....
Tens of thousands of pigeons are taken in by shooters over the season...

Mention deer then the mess in peoples nickers is ten fold....

Nothing wrong in making sure good products are put in to the food chain, however is seems you will soon need a ticket to have a piss....

Stalking is very much like going to the night club
