    Hot .243 round

I never use the .243 for deer now, and never will again, so I want to use the .243 as a varmint rifle. My deer rounds were 100Gn, but what quick, flat, light rounds are recommended? Lighter the better. Even better if someone knows what groups from a Tikka T3. Thanks

I use Sierra 70gr BT but I would think any of the makes are worth a go to see what your rifle likes depending on barrel twist.

How far will you be shooting? Light and fast is not what you want for long range

Whilst not to be recommended over here, my pal and I shot two Springbok standing side by side at 654 yards. I used a 75 Hornady Vmax and he used the 58gr Vmax. Both animal dropped on the spot. My rifle was a bog standard Rem 700 and his was a heavy barrelled Tikka T3

55grain Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint with 49 grains of H380 gives me 3700fps out of a 20" barrel Tikka T3
Point blank range on a 3 inch target is from 11-271 yards.

    Cheers

I use factory 75 gn Rem rounds in my .243. The gun is set 25mm above a line @ 200 yards.
The bulk of my foxes are shot at night, with only 4-6 shot out stalking and then I would have a 95 gn round in.

I have a mate that uses a 22.250 with a light round and on windy nights he has bottled out and said you shoot it lol...

Quick zero of a new scope this morning. Stock M595 in 243win 55grain Nosler spfb @ 3800+fps... nice to shoot and fine accuracy

+1 for the BK. I use the 70 grain out of a 6-6.5 Lapua at 3500 fps. Foxes don't like it very much at all.
So much to learn and so little time left
