Peoples thoughts on moderator cover with a difference

So this morning I had someone out with me and when he removed the rifle from its slip I noticed something a little strange.
He had the normal run of the mill slip over cover on his sound moderator, but over the end he had a butler creek type flip up scope cover!.
He said it stopped water and dirt ingress and was easy to flip up.
So, I think it would be easy to forget it in the heat of the moment and I'm uncertain of the effect it would have when the trigger was pulled!

    What's people thoughts on this?

Hmmm.....not sure I'd want to be putting my finger that close to the muzzle to flip summat up when there are enough things to think about "in the heat of the moment". Wouldn't a small piece of electrical tape do the job and just get blown off by the blast? Just seems a little 'over-engineered' as a solution to me.

A mate of mine had one of the neoprene moderator covers on his .243 and it messed the harmonics up to the extent that it affected his groups quite noticeably. I would have thought that the butler creek and a moderator cover would potentially be even worse.

    +1 on insulation tape.

Bicycle inner tube and carry muzzle down.
Never had anything up the muzzle as I make sure it isn't near or pointing anything I don't want to shoot!
