Can we shoot deer on Good Friday

Is it legal to shoot deer on Good Friday in England and Wales?

Yes it is, but I would rather not, nor do I feel comfortable shooting on a Sunday.

Strange thing is in Scotland we traditionally never shoot on the hill on a Sunday ,but in some cases the woodland guys do .

Totally agree, nothing leaves the cabinet on Sunday or any other Christian festival day.

I have heard this many times but have never really got and answer as to why not. Is it a religious thing ? Personal morals ? Some piece of wisdom you may have picked up along the way from a friend/ seasoned shooter or mentor ?

I can only assume it goes back to when, particularly in Scotland, the Wee Free Church was prevalent and the act of lifting a finger on a Sunday was deemed to be blasphemous.

I have shot on Sundays as sometimes it is the only opportunity I get with work, family etc. It does not cause me an issue tbh.

What about the guys that work 6 days a week, no shooting??

I think there was always confusion between deer and game. Deer somehow seem to be classified as game which is not shot on a Sunday.
It's a good opportunity as far as I'm concerned. The weather is fine and me and my son will be shortly heading out to clear a few last does and the odd muntjac before the end of the month.

I also shoot deer on a Sunday as I would any other day. It's just another day as far as I'm concerned.
