2" weld mesh for larsen traps

just wondering on peoples thoughts on using 2" weldmesh for making a larsen trap ive got a bit left over from making a rabbit run and was wondering if a magpie could sqweaze through the 2" gaps

    would have thought so

we have one that is weldmesh and it is smaller than that, maybe 1.5"

Yeah for a Larsen trap you want to be looking 1.5 or smaller, I normally use chicken wire. But squirrels will bite through it if caught in the trap.

Way too big, a mesh, 1" square would be good or they will be out and away. Also why weld mesh, its a lot more expensive than chicken wire, my larsens are in their 7th year and stored outside in the winter months.

2" mesh is fine it won't fit through unless you starve it

the mesh isnt just to keep the Maggie in its to keep other vermin out that's attracted by your call bird and its food ie stoats weasels mink rats ect so IMO 2" mesh is too big .

2" is definitely too big, we were using 2" weld mesh on our larsens and we're losing the smaller call birds.
wrapped the 2" weld mesh with 1" chicken wire and problem solved.

I had some similar mess left over, if 2" lay one sheet on the other (in the middle of the squares) and you end up with 1". It is best tac welded.
