Ah John, the fun just doesn't stop does it?
The prep of the equipment, the finding of the little critters, the slipping into the dam, then bring them home live and cook and generally have to fight off the freeloaders for them. You seem to be lucky in that regard.
What a feast that lot would have been!
Here am I stuck with a red deer backstrap. Give me yabbies any time.
    Grant.

Well Grant now that you mention a back strap..here is a shitty phone pic of a 2 yr old stag`s eye fillet with home picked field mushies,we mopped up all the juices with home made bread too.

Cooked them up in the hut for a welcome feed.

    ****ING DELISH!

Saw two velvet fat boys early this morn, one of them nearly made the plate except for being a little dark in the early AM,they walked into the bush before I was comfortable about rolling one.

I picked up my cam off their wallow after that...need to roll one on the bush line so he has shaken all the ****ing mud off ha ha!

My one and only yabbie experience was catching them in a little dam in the cooper basin. The bloke used a hard hat with some holes drilled in it and a bit of soap stuck to the inside as bait.
Tasty little beasties - you must have had yourself a feast with that haul!
I never make the same mistake twice.

I make it five or six times.

    Just to be sure.
