Thread: QR rings for Sako 75 Action III

QR rings for Sako 75 Action III

Tapping the SD Collective for ideas on Quick Detach rings for my Sako 75 .308...

Warne are probably the default brand, but they tell me that they don't produce anything for Sako's dovetail actions!

I don't want to add a rail as it just adds more height, so what (if anything) are folks using?

EDIT: I have Optilock bases, so is there something that fits those, or is there AN Other base/ring combination that I should be looking at?

    Thanks in advance
    iain

I don't think anyone specifically makes rings just for the 75 as the action dovetails are tapered. I may be wrong though. I think any option will involve at least a base of some description with rings to fit, such as a Contessa maybe?

Ah, I should've been clearer in my post. Thanks, apologies and amended...

    yep they do

I have Leupold QR mounts on my Sako
very low, range of rings in height, offset and ring size available

IMO on the best QR mounting systems out there
No windage creep as with some swing off designs, no deviation through lack of torque consistency
    drop in, cam up tight

Sako produce quick release bases and you then fix the rings of your choice to those in the same way you screw them to standard bases. As it happens I have a pair of quick release bases for Sako 75 in blue which could be for sale.

    FAO Bewsher and Shooting.Instructor:

Does this mean that you leave the scope in its rings which are permanently mounted to the bases, ergo it's the entire mounting "system" that gets removed?

I have 2 scopes for this rifle, so this will mean 2 sets of bases, and 2 sets of rings when I was hoping to use 2 sets of QD rings (one set per scope), mounting on one set of bases that remain on the rifle.

    Or am I just confused!?!?!

I have 2 scopes for my Sako 75 & both are fitted with Optilock rings & bases, ready just to swap over. I've priced QR mounts before & I can assure you that this was by far the cheaper option. The QR mounts on my Mannlicher were about £500 for one scope.
