Any lepidopterists out there who might identify this beast?

Was in my garage at 10.30PM yesterday skinning three muntjac after a successful evening when a bug of some kind started attacking the light.

Can anyone identify it from the photos?

We know them as mitchamdore or maybugs, apparently they are heathland insects, we have Newmarket heath near and this time of year they emerge from the ground l presume to breed, there certainly seems to be a few around mostly at dusk.

Mate lost his eye to one of these. 60mph on bike and it flew into his eye as he had the visor up, after splatting one a minute or so earlier
