    Basc

I have just had a email from my wildfowling club asking for support to appoint an independent financial inspector to look into the recent financial affairs at BASC. Anyone know about this? I know that there have been some resignations at the top.
The email also implies fraud stating that 5000000 £ is at risk

I've taken this from another site

If you're a BASC member they need your help right now, please read the following and send an email...! Please no speculation on this post.

You may be aware that there is considerable and growing disquiet about events which have taken place at BASC over the last few days. These events led to the resignation of Alan Jarrett as Chairman of our Association and the resignation of two other members of BASC Council. Our assets – including over £5,000,000 in cash at bank – are now at risk and the protection of our sport may be irreversibly weakened.
We feel it is now vital and urgent that an independent inspector is brought in to examine what has been going on and to protect our Association from wrongdoing.
BASC is a Registered Society, and is therefore regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Under the Cooperative and Community Benefits Society Act 2014. The FCA has the power to appoint an inspector to investigate if called upon to do so.
For this to happen we need the support of 100 BASC members. We need your support. Shooting needs your support. With your help we can call on the FCA to launch an investigation into what has been going on at BASC; to find out whether our assets are safe; and whether recent governance has been in keeping with best practice.

Should any of you require any further information please contact me on 07973209571.

Please forward this email to your fellow Wildfowlers in order that we can gain the 100 signatures.
Can you please confirm your support by sending an email to Lee Freeston at lee@lfelectricalservices.com with the following wording:
In accordance with Section 106 of the Cooperative and Community Benefits Society Act 2014, I hereby request that the Financial Conduct Authority appoint inspectors to examine and report on the affairs of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
    Name ......
    Email address .......
    BASC membership number ........

Whatever has happened, surely until it becomes clearer, the email above could if taken from a cynical stand point be a brilliant way of the anti's disrupting and discrediting our largest shooting/lobbying organisation and weakening our strength by destroying us from the inside with infighting?
Im no basc supporter, but as a community we should keep the infighting and speculation to a minimum as all it does is fuel the fires of those who want to destroy our sport......
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

I agree, but I thought that Jonathan Swift had already done that damage?

I have and always will be a fan of what BASC do. No body is perfect and they will never please everyone. But what they do for young shots is great.
They have also helped many a shooter keep there certificates and gain certificates. What ever has happened I hope gets sorted soon with minimal fuss.
its just a shame many people feel this is a great time to stick the knives in when really we should be pulling together.

    Taken from BASC website

CERTAIN internal employment issues are currently being investigated at BASC and, to protect people’s employment rights and ensure confidentiality, we are unable to say more at this time.
We can confirm that, contrary to gossip and speculation, nobody has been escorted from Marford Mill by the police and nobody has been arrested on grounds of fraud or other criminal offences.
BASC will make a further statement once proper process has been followed and completed. Until that time, our work as the UK’s largest shooting organisation will continue with the focus and determination our members expect.
