Moderator Advice

Looking for some advice.

I bought a few years ago a tikka t3 .243 with an ASE, jetz mod stamped .30....but also has had 25-06 and .243 proof stamps.

I have had my variation approved for a .30-06 and have ordered a tikka t3x hunter screw cut, assuming the moderator screws on with no trouble will I be able to use the same moderator on both rifles?

If so

Will using it on the .30-06 affect the zero on the .243?? And visa versa??

For a number of years I used one moderator on two rifles without any issues. Do check the moderator bore diameter before using it.

I use one mod on a number of rifles. I discussed with the licencing chap and he was of the view that as long as I have permission to possess it there isn't an issue which is sensible however I don't think there is any case law or official guidance on the matter.

Legally, Yes you will
all moderators "affect zero" but if you mean are there any detrimental effects to using a 30cal mod on a .243 then, No, there are not.
But....
the larger the clearance diameter the worse the sound attenuation
some 30cal mods have a bore as bit as 10mm
on a 7.62 this is only 1.19mm clearance each side of the bullet
but on a 6mm bullet its a whopping 2mm clearance all round

to counter that I use a 6.5mm bore mod on anything up to a 6mm calibre (0.25mm clearance)
the difference is noticeable
