Having just replaced the tyres on my Shogun, I thought this might be of use to anyone else with stupidly-large boots on their truck? I was limited for choice (and held to ransom on price!) by the 285/55 18 original tyre size, so had a bit of a dig about and found this comparison chart on the owners forum:
Tyre code Diameter Circumference Difference
285/55 R18 771 mm 2422 mm 0 %
265/60 R18 775 mm 2435 mm 0.58 %
245/65 R18 776 mm 2438 mm 0.65 %
255/60 R18 763 mm 2397 mm -0.97 %
305/50 R18 762 mm 2394 mm -1.1 %
275/55 R18 760 mm 2388 mm -1.43 %
295/55 R18 782 mm 2457 mm 1.43 %
275/60 R18 787 mm 2472 mm 2.14 %
255/65 R18 789 mm 2479 mm 2.34 %
295/50 R18 752 mm 2362 mm -2.4 %
Best choice for me was the 255/60 18 as both the range of choices increased dramatically, and the price per tyre plummeted. The difference in OD is negligible for all practical intent, as is the difference in tyre tread width. Hope this is of some use to anyone else looking to change tyres
