I read somewhere that brake fluid diluted 50% with acetone make the best penetrating oil so how would it work on fouling? any idea"s.

I would hesitate to put anything labeled "penetrating oil" into the steel of my rifle. Are you talking carbon fouling or copper? Years ago I made a copper 'de plating' unit and it's all I use now when i want bare metal as is required for high velocity cast bullet work. It removed all the copper fouling from my 1937 Winchester Model 70, 270, in about 15 minutes.~Muir
