    Weighty Muntjac?

Hi Folks, I shot a Muntjac buck this morning which seemed heavier than usual so it set me thinking, is this heavier than usual or am I becoming 'feek and weeble' ? Ok the photo shows my buck which has much longer pedicles than I have seen in my somewhat limited (Muntjac) experience so I guess it is a fairly old animal. The Larder weight (head and feet off, full gralloch) was 26lb 14 oz. The Butcher weight was 22lb 4oz........... Please educate me, is this heavier than normal or par for the course for a Wiltshire buck? Cheers Jerry

ps I have no idea why this uploaded upside down and I don't think its going to enlarge either........ Damn newbie!! Sorry!

Stalking is very much like going to the night club

You can always tell an Essex Boy, just you cant tell him much...

An hour in the field is worth a week of typing trash.....

My heaviest was 16.96kg (37lbs) whole (in 2011). That would net down to about 11.8kg (22lbs) larder weight.
Average around here is 14kgs with only a few making 15kgs or more whole for a mature buck.
We do hit the Muntjac as hard as possible, so not many older beasts about.

Thanks Norm, Now I have some info which puts a perspective on my animal. It is the heaviest I have taken off my ground but obviously not exceptional. Great, that's what I wanted to know. Cheers Jerry
