    Unusual "growth" on partridge breast meat

    Had a great day's walked up shooting earlier this week. The keeper handed over two brace of birds and they were diligently hung outside for 48 hours.

    I breasted them tonight. Three birds were fine. One wasn't. This had an odd "growth" immediately under the skin, and then further odd "growths" inside the breast where it touched the rib cage.

    Here are some photos. Any ideas what this can be?

    Is it a kind of sarcocystis thing?
