Euro lottery.... Goal posts moved again!

Hi guys,

The goal posts have now been moved further away for the third time with the Euro lottery. They have now deviously added one more number to the lucky stars, so yet again lessening the odds of winning the jackpot. They have also put the price up by 50p (now £2.50) so it's now even more expensive with less chance of winning the jackpot??.... Brilliant value for money!!

Originally as well as picking 5 main numbers, you had to pick two numbers from 9 lucky stars, they then decided that the general public "wanted bigger jackpots" so they lessened the odds of winning the jackpot by increasing the number of lucky stars to 11 which meant it was far more likely to roll over than be won, now they have done it again and snuck in one more number and then increased the price for the privilege.

By the way, by previously doubling the price of the normal lottery "Lotto" ticket to £2 and then adding 10 more numbers, they have statistically made it more than 3 times as hard to win the jackpot whilst costing twice the price. So to get even less than the same odds of winning the jackpot that one original £1 ticket used to cost, you now have to buy 3 tickets at £2 each and therefore spend £6!

Odds of winning the Euro lottery jackpot with 9 lucky stars was 1 in 76 million
Odds of winning the Euro lottery jackpot with 11 lucky stars was 1 in 117 million
Odds of winning the Euro lottery jackpot with 12 lucky stars now 1 in 140 million

The odds of winning the lotto jackpot with 49 numbers was 1 in 14 million
The odds of winning the lotto jackpot with 59 numbers now 1 in 45 million

vote with your feet I say !

Really? I just bought a ticket (here in Denmark) yesterday. Three lines for 60 DKR.

Is that one line for £2.50 in the UK?

Did I just convert this correctly to discover that 60 DKR is worth £6.96?

Just realised that your 60 DKR gets you 3 lines, not just 1, so not really that different.

Yes, more money for less chance.
I did see an advert on Tv that said it would charge £2 per ticket still, but can't remember who - Sorry!
I'm sure someone on here will say....

Well just don't buy a ticket each week. At £2.00 a throw, it's like winning over £100 a year! Save that up and you're descendants will be millionaires in less than 200 years.

Aye, it' a ruddy con now. The odds increased astronomically when they raised the Lotto numbers by another ten. I saw a breakdown of the odds compared to previously and it's insulting. I've long-held the suspicion too, that an algorithm exists to pick the least-common numbers for Lucky Dips. As an example, I 'won' a Lucky Dip on last week's draw (the first I've bothered with in ages) and the first 3 numbers n the line were 7, 8 and 9. They can shove their lottery, as far as I'm concerned

I stopped doing the lottery when they had the 20th year celebrations a few years ago. I just thought hold on a minute ive been doing this for 20 years averaging about £10 a week and ive never won more than £10.
Thanks but no thanks.
Just save it and buy yourself a new rifle or something.

The odds are so astronomical. At least before you could get the odd number or two on a line and the very occasional tenner. You probably even knew someone who got a few quid with 4 numbers. Now? Not a thing. Buy 5 lines and it's entirely likely you won't get a single number. I can see their income diminishing, with those damned scratch cards only doing well.

I won £2.90, well £2 something yesterday, I think it may well be my parting ticket though, its a big rip off.

I was buying 5 on Wednesday and 5 on Saturday when it was £1. When Chris Smith decided to take the profit from the Wednesday draw for funding the Olympics, I stopped doing it on Wednesdays and bought 5 lucky dips on Saturday. When it went to £2, I stopped the lucky dips. I was buying 5 Euromillions lucky dips on pension day, but sounds like it will now be only 4.

You have to watch where you are in the world, I bought a ticket in Lanzarote, but if you win in 'Spain' their rules mean that 20% of it goes to the Spanish government as Tax, not like the UK!

As a chap who likes a bit of a gamble I have to say that any of the lotteries have never appealed to me . The odds are rediculas and I find the sight of watching little balls falling out of a machine totally unexciting. There is no skill involved and vertually no involvement with punter to bookie etc.
Mind knumbingly boaring. Just had a treble up at Chantilly.

I've won more at the blackjack table in the casino on a Saturday night than I have ever won on the lottery in a lifetime. The casino often pays for my night out.

I stopped doing it when they put the price up.
I also object to funding a canadian teaches pension fund.

To be honest, although I've bought the odd lottery ticket and had a flutter once or twice on the Grand National, betting as a pastime leaves me cold. I can understand why some people enjoy it though, but for me it's enough of a gamble every time I fire a rifle as to whether I'll hit the target.
