Thread: Gooseberry gin

    Gooseberry gin

Following Jinga's tip I visited demijohn's stand at Scone today and can confirm that the gooseberry gin is excellent as is their raspberry vodka. Other fruit gin's, vodka's and a rum as well. It's very friendly - Angus hands out plenty of free samples!

Even if you are not able to visit their stall at Scone they visit other shows as well and they have a website www.demijjohn.co.uk where you can visit. They also do oils and vinegar's but I wasn't to interested in those when the gin was flowing!

Must stop as a long cool gooseberry gin with some fizz in it is waiting.

    Enjoy - I will

    Bob

Am glad some people have ahd good trips rather than dripping about what they didn't like

Having had my afternoon off at the fair, to return to a child with chicken pox makes 15 for a wander utter bliss!

    Yes, Sloegasms take some beating!

We've just picked a large crop of raspberries off the allotment so the Raspberry Gin production line will kick into life later today.

i use same method wether gin or voddy

    works for me

1 litre of tescos voddy or gin
1kilo or 2lbs of fruit any fruit you want
    750 grams of castor sugar
1 air tight jar to put it all in

take your fruit and burst the skins
( if small berries ***** them ....if larger just cut in to sections...this is imporatnat!! )
    put them in your jar
    add the sugar
    add the voddy or gin
    seal lid
every day for 1st fortnite take out kitchen cupboard and shake gently
after 2 weeks sugar gone take out weekly and give a shake
after 6months sieve out and bottle
drink with nice tonic or lemonade or even tescos own fruity fizzy water
    ACE

I now am trying adding a vanilla pod or good quality vanilla essence when i bottle it

make one every month and you always end up having a bottle coming out of production!!

my method rough n ready but works yum!!

Follow Sauer's recipe and you won't go wrong. I do just the same (though thanks for the hint about the vanilla pod sauer!).

1.5 litres of raspberry gin bottled today.
