Thread: Time in the Seat (and out)

Time in the Seat (and out)

A friend has a opp coming up with no chance of him sitting in high seats or dragging deer for a while so off we went for our 2 day trip which we make once a season but went before his hospital date.

The usual long periods of checking left, right and in front in an almost constant motion is interrupted with a deer stepping out from cover. Some rides are quite narrow so your movement has to be fluid to get on the shot.

A few pics and a short clip of a flight pond I went with the keeper to clap off as he knows I am into duck shooting, not sure why we were whispering but force of habit with deer and foxing I guess lol...

The vixen took a Texas heart shot around 80 yards from my .270 which pleased the keeper, the shot rattled the wood with a fallow doe leaping on to the ride a few seconds later so the quickly cycled round was off and running knocking her over.

A re-fuel on bacon-egg sandwiches while the kettle was boiling works well.........lol

Weights and conditions were good with one pricket at 58 kg largest doe was 48 kg

4 fallow each made a good tally for the trip....

A lot of people often refer to the past, but don’t shoot in the present…..

An hour in the field is worth a week of typing trash.....

I'm guessing those weights are not dressed carcass?

Sounds like a cracking trip, weather has been favourable too.
