I was going to say, if you think Trump is over to the right, wait till you see the kind of people he will now surround himself with / circle and take the opportunity - we ought to be more worried about that!

Historically the Democrats were the party of slavery and after the Civil War and abolition the party of segregation, Jim Crow laws and institutionalised racialism in the USA. Strom Thurmond, George Wallace et al were Democrats to the man. Sauer is totally correct in his facts.

In that case thank God there is now a Republican President.

Fair enough - times change though so I don't see the relevant parallel now, save for arguements sake?

They still are. Remember the Clintons' opinion of Obama in 2008 when he ran, and won, in the Democrat Primaries against Hillary?

As Trump said the Democrats come round at election time to their African-American constituencies and fiefdoms to promise this, promise that, then when they've secured the vote deliver nothing. Politically in the USA it is in the interests of the Democrats to maintain a black underclass.

They have no genuine interest in seeing that demographic advance nor improve its life chances.
