I have got a chance a of a cheap barrel 1in 12 twist does anyone have any experiance of a load capable of target shooting out to 600 yards with I am guessing a maximum bullet weight of 55 grains I know not an ideal combination.

In my experience 500 yards is the max my 1:12" 223 can reliably cope with. Tighter twist barrels with heavier bullets do noticeably better at 600.

+1.

Even with 69 TMKs shot from a 1/8 twist .223 at the weekend, the little rounds were being blown around a fair bit at 600! 1/12 twist is more a closer range hunting barrel, not so much suited to long range.

Agree, I have a 223 T3 which is very slow with factory ammo. Doing a drop chart she was getting subsonic at 600m with the 50gr v-max fiocci ammo.
69gr are much more fun, but if 1/12, 1/14 then maybe a good 52gr match bullet?
