Stamp Duty, Sporting Rates, and now Income Tax - when's the SNP going to stop

So the SNP has chosen not to raise tax rates, but it's not raising the Tax thresholds by any more than the rate of inflation so any body in Scotland earning more than £43,430 will be paying more tax than their English counterparts whose threshold will be £45,000. Now £43,430 is not exactly a high income these days and suspect many on the SD are there or there abouts, and certainly many that are amateurs stalkers or enjoy game shooting.

So we are now getting hammered not only when we try to move house - anything more than a £325,000 property now attracts stamp duty of 10% in the peoples republic and anything over £750,000 is 12% - and no you don't get very much for £325,000 in Scotland any more.

Our shooting is about to get another 20 or 30% added onto it - if you are a sporting tenant, which us what most of us are or will be.

If you want to sink a mooring for a boat, or rent one the Crown Estate - which in Scotland is now part of the Scottish Government will charge an extra £80 per annum for the privilege.

Because the SNP have put a torpedo through the Scottish economy - and yes a lot of oil jobs have gone because of the low oil price, but most oil companies have chosen to makes the cuts in Aberdeen rather than elsewhere (I wonder why) - most of us spend most of time earning money elsewhere and now those of us who are actually contributing something are just getting squeezed even more.

And it has just put another obstacle in the way of attracting and keeping good talent in the country.

Oh and because of the land reform act - if you choose to rent out your property your tenants can take it off you.

England will have a major immigrant problem as yet more of the working class - plenty earning more than £40,000 hitch up the ox wagons and head southwards permanently.

When will people wake up and realise the damage that is being caused.

Obviously England should be offering people the option to establish their tax domicile in England if they prefer. Better for the taxpayer, the Westminster government and a disaster for Sturgeon.

And that's a major emigrant problem on top of the current status quo which is already a major taxpayer drain. A few years ago my wife (not British) was horrified to discover that you could fit all the net taxpayers in Scotland into Murrayfield with space to spare.

The lizard lipped witch of the north has got you now.
They may take our lives but they'll never take our freedom, but by god she's going to tax the carp out of it.
Sadly you have only your countrymen to blame as it was they who voted her in.
Also £43k per year would be lovely but sadly a dream to a vast majority of the populus, me included at less than 1/2 of that.
“Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”........Dalai Lama

Exactly. In Britain (including Scotland) the socialists get into power and finance all their great schemes to fulfil their beliefs in equality and freedoms, until it all goes financially baps up and then the Conservatives get in and restore the finances. Then the Conservatives, if in for too long, start their whacky ideas, so Labour come to the rescue. And so on...

Unfortunately in Scotland, there is currently no alternative. So the lefty lunatics are running the asylum. I think it was a shrewd move for Westminster to devolve the tax powers to Scotland because in no way shape or form does Scotland have the income to bring "Lizard Lips" ideas to fruition without taxing every which way she can. Where will it all end? We shall see, damned if I know.

Pah. Child's play. For real tax torture you've got to go back to the 1960s when my late father had the pleasure of paying tax at 19s 6d in the £1. For those born post decimalisation that's 97.5p in the £1. Now that's proper tax torture!

The problem with places like Scotland is that the mass of the electorate is so wilfully stupid and ideologically hostile that reasonable economic policies won't even enter into their universe of options. No matter how far wrong it goes, it will always be the fault of the English failing to provide enough subsidy/ conspiring to do them down by giving them financial independence / stealing their vast natural wealth. What they actually want as an ideal policy is to go back to the Middle Ages dress in rags and kilts, survive off porridge and carrion, paint themselves blue, rage at the English for the treachery of their own leaders.
A Scottish politician recommending living within their means will get no further than an English one recommending the English abandon Earth and move to the Moon.

The French are the same. An otherwise advanced nation committing political suicide nearly every election. Even when they elect someone who has a sensible policy, they riot to stop him enacting the policies they voted for.
(I started off planning to write a sensible comment, but I haven't had my porridge yet either.)

Of course, that's never been a worry for the Scots because it has always been other people's money with less than 1% of the population being net taxpayers.
This is partly the fault of the English as well, because it's the almost inevitable result of subsidising them so heavily - and for permitting devolution. If given a choice, it should have been between shutting up and being more British or full independence: no aid, no free trade and a sealed border.
They developed a predictable dependency and we've had 20 years of politicians who had no use for economic competence and were rewarded for being wasteful, demanding and loud-mouthed exactly because the best economic strategy for Scotland was to behave like a cross between a spoilt child and an addict. It's almost inevitable that Sturgeon would be the result of this. It's made the electorate politically retarded too.
