How often to clean your rifle

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on how often to clean a barrel, i honestly cant remember the last time i really cleaned mine, but when i am still grouping to under an inch at 100yds with factory ammo i cant see why people clean them so often. thoughts please, thanks Rich

Never, just dry it, the next bullet blows the crap and rust out.

Hardly ever clean mine. I do however dry it , I don't mind a dirty barrel but I certainly don't want a rusty one!.
Like you 1995 rs, I too can group factory ammo pefectly adequately, until I start getting wild groups mine will remain as I like my women....
    Cheers.

I used to clean my rifle once a year at the very best - unless completely saturated. Since I got the new one though I seem to be pushing a lightly oiled patch, followed by a couple of dry ones through the barrel after each outing.

About as high maintainance as I can handle.

I give mine a clean just before the next season March before bucks and have a wee play with it . Then again in oct and same again.

My HMR needs a good clean on a regular basis, it starts sending out flyers after around 30 rounds. A pull through with a snake sorts it out though until I get home. I clean my centre fire after each outing, just cant sleep knowing that its festering away in the attic dirty.
