Thread: Barrel thread for moderator

    Barrel thread for moderator

My barrel is currently threaded with 1/2" UNF, I'm thinking of having it cut back and threaded to 5/8" UNEF so that I can use my other mod with it and get rid of a mod... Only trouble is that the barrel is only .670" wide at that point - is that enough for supporting an end can?

big negative on that one, you'd only have 022" above thread, even 9/16" is still to big, flog your 5/8" mod and put it to-ward a new 1/2"

You could have a adaptor machined up 1/2 female thread one end 5/8 male thread the other end, this would screw on the barrel allowing the moddy to fit either rifle, only down side would be that it would extend your rifle inch in length.

Adapters do work my 270 is 1/2 inch my 6.5 is 5/8 the mod is 5/8 and Rhino rifles made up an adaptor for me to fit on the 270.

Thanks for the suggestions, a threaded adapter sounds like a good way to go...
