    I understand that is a one off but that is some salary!

    Certainly makes me realise why the keeper I shoot for complained when the farmer increased his cover crop charge. Over 100 per acre, I had no idea.

    I think I know this person, or someone on a similar position.

    If you take into account they may be overseeing a turnover of over half a million and be line managing 6 full time staff , it isn't that big a salary, many Keepers are doing more than the traditional vermin killing and rearing.

    It may be the case that everyone else is under paid

    If they are running with 6 full time staff they will need to be turning over more than 500K pa

    42K pa is small beer for senior management jobs for 1m+ operations. I know one head keeper/estate manager that is certainly earning more than the top figure in the survey. Plus tips of course. But then you don't mention those in case the tax man is watching.

    Pity the poor sod that is doing the job for 11k.
