    Stone's Stalking (conclusion)

Following on from events of this TOPIC below
    March Shoot Auction Lots
Martyn 52 won my lot " Stone's Stalking" I had donated to the "March & Shoot H4H auction"
I thought I would put up a little write up of the turn of events on the night his prize was collected,
Just to show thou the event has passed, the support and commitments to such events still rage strongly after all this time

Thou it was due to of taken place during the past Doe season, sudden turns of events from both myself and Martyn led the trip to be an open invite, to be taken at our convience as and when we could
    It happened last Tuesday night
After a short trip from mine to the Roe ground , led to an even shorter stalk
As we were just getting our gear on at the motor, I turned to Martyn and asked if his rifle and sticks were handy, it was only just gone 6pm
He thought I was going to ask him to fire a quick shooting test ( Martyn is DSC L2 & an AW who also shoots a few deer a year)
As he looked at me ,
I Said "Roe Buck 20 yards in front of us"
    He soon clocked on
It dissappeared into the hedgerow , we moved to counter act it's movements quickly spotting it once more
several bleets of the Buttalo and said buck came running, stopped at about 10 yards, it never moved again from a well placed neck shot

Off to a good start we set off in search of another Buck
seeing plenty of deer, but not what we were after
    onto the next farm,
A quick skirt around a wheat field and Fallow were spotted,
    A pricket chosen
Again up went sticks and the rifle sounded, looking good with all the vital signs of a chest shot
but the deer kept on moving ,as it stopped briefly a 2nd shot rang out and the deer dissappeared from view
It was now down for good but lay out of sight in some tallish cover
once more my trusted dog Sika did what she was trained to do
After a 100 or so yards track in some tall grassy cover , our night had ended on a high
closer inspection showed both shots had been well placed, the 2nd was just making sure

and the spoils of the night

from 2 happy stalkers and 1 happy dog
What a way to support the Help 4 Heroes foundation
Regards to all who made it happen

Well done, happy to hear that it was a good night, with everyone pleased.

Position and hold must be firm enough to support the firearm
The firearm must point naturally at the target without any undue physical effort
Sight alignment (aiming) must be correct
The shot must be released and followed through without disturbing the position
