    Thick ear!

Hi, a mate of mine has a spaniel that has a solid/swollen ear.

I think its called a haematoma (sp)?? Maybe Multiple haematoma?? Burst blood vessels in the ear from a bump or shaking its head?

I had a spaniel that had this a while ago and had surgery to sort it.

He has been advised that it will fine if drained and the dog is given antibiotics, will this sort it??

Any help or advise would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

It'll sort pretty easily as said above, it may be recurrent though, I had a Lab a few years back who suffered it every couple of years, to no real ill effect

Your mate will soon find out, As if it don't work it will fill back up again
the vet might opt to regular drain and tablets for a short while if they think it may eventually work or just go straight to surgery to resolve it,
but it should not effect the dog in any other way from what I hav seen
just hav to keep a close eye on it
