Thread: Trouble getting powder?

    Trouble getting powder?

Is anyone else having trouble getting powder/bullet heads?

I've had some Hodgson 414 on order now for three weeks and it still hasn't come in! Also waiting on some 243 target bullets! Is it me and my supplier or is this the case elsewhere?

Seems to be a bit of a back log at Edgar Brothers. I was waiting a month for Varget so decided to use Benchmark instead (they had this in stock) and it works great.

I was in my local gunshop the other day he had next to no powder in he said it was on back order with the importer, he had a tub of H-4831sc so I had it, only have 3 tubs in stock now.

I would say if you see some you use buy it, I don’t think you gunsmith is telling porkies.

I have been informed that there is a problem with shipping, or somebody is not paying on time. Wouldnt be surprised if it was the latter.

Agreed with that one, i phoned a number of reloading specialists after certain pieces of equipment, all to no avail. Tim Hanman had it all in stock.

Visited my local gunsmith last week to get some H4831sc, not available, or Varget or any other popular Hogdon powders. When I asked why I was told that there had been a fire at the factory and production had stopped until the damage has been repaired. Hence popular powders out of stock first, ended up with some Reloader 15.

Funny. Hodgdon doesn't seem to know about this fire... at least it's not in any of their industry or press releases.

What I was originally going to post before I read this was that the primer shortage, at least, seems to be over. At the tiny, local gunshow last week there were primers everywhere selling for around $25/1000 for standards Remington, CCI, Winchester, Ferderals. Federal Large Rifle Match were $49/1000 which is a far cry fron the $150/1000 some fools were paying for them 8 months ago.

Hope the flow reaches you guys soon.~Muir
