    Shooting Times

In Shooting Times this week there is a question posed about Calibres for Africa...in the answer they mention 'Katter'. It did not seem very clear as to what they were reffering...any ideas?

Mind you, it might have been my reading as I was reading it in the COOP - cheapskate I know!

You don't mention the context - but could it be Afrikaans for '(big) cats' ?

He seems to relate to the 30.06 as a Katter?

Maybe stating that it's only suitable for use on big cats then, i.e. soft skinned big game and not buffs, rhino etc. ?

Sorry Orion...it seemed to refer as a particular calibre as the 'Katter' and I wondered which it was.

I've read the piece as well now, it looks like a simple typo - 'katter' instead of 'latter' and latter makes perfect sense in the context of the article.
