    Rem 260 loads

    Morning Guys,

I would appreciate some info on Rem 260 loads. I have just purchased the 260 from Tikka.
I am interested in Copper Bullets also as may have to use them on a specific piece of ground.

    All info appreciated.

My current loads for the 260 Rem using full length sized Remington brass, CCI 200 primers.

140 Amax 43.5gr N165 on the lands – practice and range work out to 400m.
142 SMK 44.5gr N165 on the lands – practice and range work out to 400m.
    129gr SST 45.2gr RL-19 20 thou off – stalking, five rounds left.
129gr Hornady SP (old version of bullet) 46.4gr N165 20 thou off.
129gr Hornady SP (new version of bullet) 45.6gr N560 10 thou off – current stalking load.
Plan to continue with Hornady 129gr SP for stalking and go back to N165 once current tub of N560 used up.

As ever, these are my loads worked up over a couple of years and may not suit your rifle.

That's interesting, hope you don't mind me asking... Why the 140(ish)s on the range and the 130(ish)s on deer?

Good question. At present these are all bullets that I can get without too much bother. As you can see from the chrono results, none of these rounds rocket along.

Thanks for that JCS. IMHO 2600-2700 is plenty MV and the 6.5 gives excellent penetration and acceptable meat damage at those velocities. My 6.5 has a slightly bigger capacity case than .260, so I use 140's for deer (SP and SST). Good pill and powder choices BTW
