Federal Fusion is a good round, and not too expensive. Not sure where you are, but Country Pursuits in Cricklade, Wiltshire should be able to help. Ruag are starting to import Norma 140gn SP's, but I don't know any dealers with these in stock yet.

the 7mm.08 is basicly knecked down from a .308
its becoming a very popular cartridge, its flat shooting compared with a .308 and noticably lighter on recoil.
its a nice rifle for younger people and women who want to hunt the biggest deer.or other large game.
I reload 120grain bullets at 3000fps, and upto 175 grain bullets at 2500fps.
I find my 7.08 a real pleasure to shoot as does my wife.

What more can you add but to re-iterate that the 7mm-08 is probably one of the smoothest shooting calibres for it's punch around - and it'll take care of everything in the UK and a lot elsewhere.

To go back to the first question - ammunition. In my Custom Remington 700 I've used Remington 140g SP Core-Lokt, 140g BST and 120g HP, Hornady 139g SST and Federal 150g SP. All shoot very accurately but on the whole I use the Core-Lokt 140g SP for everything. I haven't used Federal Fusion but will if I can find some - anybody know what they are like?

just tried the federal fusion 140,s in the xbolt and it groups great, shoots really well from a clean barrel, needs a clean after about 20 rounds to keep the groups tight
