Deer Management Course 13-15 March 2019 Altyre, Morayshire

I am looking to do the Advanced deer management either with the BDS or Jelen. Does anyone know if there is any difference in course content or emphasis depending on where in the country the courses are held? For example do the guys running a course up in Morayshire tend to lean towards red deer management on open moor, where as Jelen may concentrate on lowland fallow herds or woodland roe/muntjac.

Of course both would be very interesting and I'm sure all providers touch on most environments and management of them. I do wonder if now the courses have been shortened in order that they are more affordable both financially and with peoples hectic lives, if the content is so comprehensive?

I personally would be happy to do two courses to cover highland/moorland management and the specialised needs of such habitats, and a seperate one for lowland areas and the needs of woodland and agricultural ground etc.

One final thing is should I embark on a course such as this does it hold any weight with land owners, land managers, gov authorities etc. As not only would I like to increase my own knowledge I would in the not too distant future try to get a chance to experience a more professional role. Whether that be as a gillie part time/seasonal, or try to find a way to manage deer in a more commercial operation.

Any thoughts or advice welcome.

Hi Woodmaster, if you want to give me a call I can talk you through the BDS Deer Management Course. 07920 452448. Best wishes, Glyn

Will do Glyn. That would be very useful, thank you. I have taken your number so if you want to edit the post so no undesirables can get hold of it you may be best to remove it.
