Early morning red

A friend phoned and asked if I’d like to come over for a chance of a red spiker, it took all of 10 seconds to say yes to his offer.
It would be a great chance to try out the new 375HH, out the house at 4-45 for a 5- 30 rendezvous out on the ground 5-45 just starting to get light glassing the ground nothing to be seen apart from some flashing led lights somebody talking 4 dogs for a walk nowhere near a footpath so the deer are elsewhere.
Moving to a different part of the ground we encountered 3 hinds with calves no spikers around the corner another 10+ hinds with calves, So looking like the 375 was going home without being fired.
15 min later as we slowly work our way around the ground we see another group of reds with 2 having their heads down together a-bit of pre rut practice.

We wait until they lift their heads and one presents a broadside view about 160 mtrs, so first red with the 375hh it looked like a spiker but it was a 2 3 year old one single antler on one side and a multi tined on the other side.
Great morning and ready for work by 9-00 am what more can you ask for Martyn. 08C0FDD4-0E7B-43BC-BFF9-F086C85318E4.jpg

Well done Martyn. Looks like a spiker to me though and a good one to cull. The teeth will confirm the age obviously? Are you able to put a picture of them up on here? What weight was it in the larder, 70kgs ish?
