BBC Radio2, snipers shooting foxes in London

Did any one else listen to the Jeramy Vine show on radio 2 and end up shouting at the radio because of the sensationalist pandering to the tree huggers. I didn't know that foxes weren't vermin and didn't need to be controlled.

It seems that the fluffy cuddley bunny/fox bragade don't think urban foxes are a problem. I'm not sure that shooting is the best method in a housing estate but not well reported on the show.

Jeremy Vine is the second worst thing that ever happened to Radio 2 (obviously Chris Evans hold the No 1 slot) It beats me how he has retained his prime time show. I didn't hear this program but can imagine how it went. JC

unreal ,marksmen running around at night with night vision .keep your animals and kids locked up in case they get shot.if you leave the foxes alone and dont shoot them then they wont breed to fill the void.

If you don't kill the resident pair you will retain the status quo, however the cubs will be chased out of their patch until they find a vacant area for themselves to breed. Onward and onward and onward, the resident pair will continue to breed as long as their fit.
We find that if the area round our shooting does nothing about foxes then we get their cubs each autumn looking for their own site, no matter how many we shoot it never ends.

Blindness to suffering is an inherent consequence of natural selection. Nature is neither kind nor cruel but fiercely indifferent.

That was one of the points, it apparently happens because the pest controllers want to keep making money out of the problem. It seems that it's nothing more than profiteering and if we left them alone they would reach a point of equalibream and not cause any problems.

I wonder if they really belive the rubish that comes out of their mouths or have any evidence to back up their hairbrained ideas. If they weren't given such a voice it would be laughable. It scares me that they are able to get such a wide reach.

The first thing I tell anybody that calls me to destroy foxes is that THE VOID will be filled, same with moles, squirrels and rabbits. After I have explained this most people still go ahead and I get a reasonable amount of repeat business just from been up front with them first time round. I have one place I get a call about every 8 to 10 weeks to catch a fresh mole thats appeared, and other small gardens that I go as standard about every 3 months to spend a week thinning out the rabbits.

Comments like leave them alone it will all balance out wind me up as much as pest control companies that state and this is a direct quote from a website

**** Pest are a UK nationwide company specialising in all types of pest control including:

    • Pest removal - Humane removal of protected species

They have finally removed the statement that foxes are protected and they catch and release them to amble around pastures new doing no harm to anyone. But moving protected species needs a licence,,,Im betting they dont have one.

Slightly off thread but couldn't agree more re Radio 2 and both of those "presenters".It's actually Radio 1 1/8 now
All the more reason to buy a digital radio, maybe it's a plot .
