Thinking of buying a pair of 8x56 leica rangefinder bins anyone know the difference between the HD and the non HD other than £200 price difference
I've had a pair of 8x42 Geovids for nearly 2 years I can only recommend them. I had them serviced this year and they came back (about 6weeks) with new HD object lens, new battery cover, new full set of rubber lens covers all free of charge. The HD is supposed to offer better light quality and reduce misting, but my eyes aren't good enough to notice. My advice would be test both aets and pick the one you like.
As to light gathering, I feel they are a match to my friends Swar and Zeiss, granted when I look at the same deer through my 8x56 scope it is a lot lighter but it should be?
The Zeiss range finders I've not looked through but they are getting good reviews so before you part with that amount of money look and handle as many differnt pairs/makes/magnifications as you can.

Cheers Jon, getting somewhere to look and handle isn't easy other than gamefair but thats a long way off. I've got swarovski 7x42 and leica rangefinder at the moment but fancy the combined job really wondering if the hd is worth the extra £200
