Why shoot fox, get a cat!

I have seen foxes (and dogs) run off by cats before over the years, but when we moved to our present location a friend told us of a fox killing a cat. I immediately thought, "urban myth"! But about a year ago I was out walking the dog with my daughter and we both saw a big fox, walking down out of the the estate we live on the edge of, carrying a dead cat. Ellen, my daughter has seen it once more with a dead cat, I have no reason to disbelieve her!

Basically the fox is an opportunist and if it thinks it can best any animal it will have a go .The older foxes know what their limits are whereas the younger ones have to learn the hard way .However there will always be one or two that specialise in killing cats and lets face it if a terrier can kill them with ease for fun then charlie certainly can when killing for food .

Seen one a few years back,it crossed road in front of the car and jumped a wall, dropping the cat at the same time! The thing was the cat was still moving!!but Charlie jumped back over and away with the cat again, this was semi rural,on outskirts of falkirk ,what makes the story stick In my mind was a couple of days later there was missing cat posters on every other lampost!!!I bottled out of phoning the number to tell them what happened to there poor wee bird killer!!!
