Ah more pish from the press there has been bans on shooting wildfowl every year for the last few years .

Anyone who doesn't enforce there own ban after 3 days hasn't got any respect for there quarry species .

Ah Stuart at his best digging up old information mmmmm.

    The Telegraph have that wrong

At present there is a call for voluntary restraint in shooting waterfowl or waders is currently in place in Scotland. Should widespread freezing conditions continue a statutory suspension could be could be imposed at 00.01 on 10 December (day 15).
This is what the Telegraph should be reporting. As of 10th Dec we in Scotland will have been suffering from 15 consecutive days of freezing weather, this is what triggers the ban

    In some places maybe, Stu.
Certainly with us (a wee bit north of Oban) there's no problem for wildfowl at all, woodcock are feeding nicely in our birch and oak woods that are still soft under canopy and our estuary is still soft and not iced up at all. We have had average daytime temps for the past three days above freezing! I do realise however that we are very lucky to have missed out on this bad weather, but as voluntary restraint takes into account local conditions I feel it is only balanced to let our local conditions be known

Still a good call Stuart I can agree on this point on the Tay, Solway,Eden Montrose Moray and Clyde estuaries voluntary bans are well in place by fowlers long before any statuary ban is imposed the way it should be you'll see all sorts on the mud woodcock waders curlews the ish .

totaly agree with widows son on this one, i fowl on the Eden and fife coasts, i have left the birds alone for the past two weeks due to this cold weather, the birds are just "sitting ducks" when it gets like this. not sporting and ecologicaly daft to shoot when the birds are grouped up like they are currently.

its a shame not everyone thinks the same.

im sure the ban will be inforce shortly.

    Skipp.
