Thread: Iron Stag Target

    Iron Stag Target

Our target, a square foot of 1" thick armoured plate welded on to a 4ft sq X quarter inch metal plate is looking a little tired.

Does anyone know where I can get a life sized template of a Red Stag.

I would chalk one on to some sheet steel but my drawing is that bad I cant even do hangman.

    Dan

    I've seen them somewhere

    Bushwear have Whitetail targets: http://www.bushwear.co.uk/nostyles.p...01&ClassID=254

    and http://www.bushwear.co.uk/nostyles.p...44&ClassID=254

They also have roe targets in paper and steel: http://www.bushwear.co.uk/nostyles.p...06&ClassID=254

You could try an Elk target from the US: http://www.opentip.com/product_info....te_banner_id=1

    or http://www.perfectarrow.com/index.cgi?pid=250

But one of our Scandinavian site members might have something better.

    I'll keep looking!

    Dan

The BDS do an outline roe target: http://www.bds.org.uk/STALKF2E

You could take that and scale it up for a red deer hind? Just a thought.

If it helps, I can give you a set of red deer antlers to stick on top

Another thought would be to give the British Sporting Rifle Club at Bisley a call. They must have something they use for the Running Deer target - perhaps they could help?

    Or what about this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H6R082/...2&linkCode=asn

I know it's still not a Red Deer....

    Good luck!

I'm sure there are dimensions etc. in Whiteheads book, practical deer stalking.
I have a copy somewhere [in the loft i think] if I can dig it out i'll give you a shout, however I'm sure someone else on the site will have one at hand.

If you have the dimensions I'm sure it would be easy enough for someone[in the know] to pump the numbers in a computer thingy and let it go [plasma cutter , i think] as you see I am an expert

I can buzz one out with a plazma cutter or the gas axe, just need the template to draw round with a lump of chalk.

Have you seen the price of steel?! *gulp*

That's a thought....where could we get AR500 steel in Scotland?

dan have you a smaller picture you can use, it might sound daft but cut it out on card and use a bright light behind to project an image onto the steel and draw round the shadow ,atb wayne

I dont need it, I have a foot square of inch thick armoured plating.

Its been used as a target for 11 years with THOUSADS of shots at it and its barely scratched.
