The South East of Scotland Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 2nd February 2011 in the Education Centre of Dalkeith Country Park starting at 7pm. (Education Centre can be found by entering Dalkeith Country Park from Dalkeith High Street, take first left and Education Centre is 100 yards on the right)

As a prelude to the AGM on Wednesday 2nd February Chris Pike (a qualified conservationist and practising game ranger from South Africa) will give a lecture which will give the audience a fascinating background on the history of game utilisation and management in South Africa from the early colonial days up to the present. The emphasis will be on modern day game management practises and will show how private game ownership has fundamentally changed the face of game and ecosystem conservation. As well as an overview of the significant advances being made, he will be explaining current management practises including capture and relocation, genetic breeding and utilisation of various game species.

The Branch meetings for 2011 will take place on the first Tuesday of the month starting in April and will usually be held at the Education Centre in Dalkeith Country Park. See the South East Scotland web page on The British Deer Society for details of the events taking place.
