    drilling out a t8 ?

    Hi Guys/gals

I know this is not ideal, but ive got a t8 on my 243 it says 25 on it which i take is up to 25cal.
my question is could i drill (accuratley) the baffels so i could use it on my 308 aswell ?

i understand it would be abit less effective when back on the 243 after drilling but not to bothered about that as the 243 is mild anyway.

    just saves buying anouther mod.

    many thanks

I'd endevour to find something in my house that was 8-8.5mm in diametre and poke it through the hole to see if it fitted, if it did, then a .30 cal head will go through it? I'll wait for the incomming on that. As to the 25 on the side, that might be from the proof house?

Position and hold must be firm enough to support the firearm
The firearm must point naturally at the target without any undue physical effort
Sight alignment (aiming) must be correct
The shot must be released and followed through without disturbing the position

Currently a 7mm drillbit fits perfectly in the hole, can you tell me exactly what size drill bit in mm, i will need to ensure a nice clean pass through of a 308 head is it 8 or 8.5 i would perfer to go a little bit bigger if you know what i mean .

    Many thanks

I would be inclined to trade the T8 in for a brand new .30 cal mod rather than attempt to re-engineer it.

I have done what you propose on a couple of my Mods and as long as the hole is drilled centally there is no problem, but from what you have said I would think a .308 bullet will pass through it as it is.
Why not just drop a .308 bullet (not a cartridge ) through it and if it clears then go ahead without fear.
If, on the other hand you have plenty of money go ahead and do as JCS suggests.

    TJ, I think if you look at Jacksons web-site they give the information that moderators do not need proofing;

This answers your question on which calibres would be safe to fire through your mod'

    I hope this helps.

    minimum - 308/7.62 - 8.5mm reamer, not drill
needs to be done in a lathe...

Normally 1mm over bullet size so ~ 8.8mm say 9mm.
Maybe even 10mm if one has a not so accurate method.
I've drilled out plenty mods for others that where just too tight.
